M5.5 Tap Water
If I were to create a campaign slogan to promote tap water versus bottled water, it would say something like “You wouldn’t pay to drink out of a water fountain…” This would represent exactly what the bottled water manufactures are during which simply put is robbery. Upon viewing The Story of Bottled Water, I probably will discontinue to buy bottled water at the rate that I do currently. Until now, I had no clue companies actually use the same source of water as cities but claim to be purer with a better taste. Now in places known to have bad water like Flint Michigan I can see the importance of bottled water, but in cities with relatively clean water these facts about bottled water should be presented to the public. Not only will this reduce the amount of plastic waste and waste from the bottled water manufacture’s plants but will save people a ton of money that can be spent elsewhere. I think what the bottled water industry are doing is unethical. It would be like paying for tanks of supposedly “cleaner air”- ridiculous! We as public health professionals should be at the for front of this because water is one of the biggest global public health issues in the world.
Your slogan is great! straight to the point and draws much context to the realities of bottle water. The issues found in Flint, Michigan are tragic and terrible. It is unethical for this city to go without clean tap water and for the industry to take advantage of this basic need.
ReplyDeleteI really like the fiscal component of your slogan, I think that the financial constraints or cost of something is really a major factor when driving behavior. People put off going to the doctor b/c they don't want to pay for it, or they will eat unhealthy food because they think its cheaper, or they will keep an old appliance instead of throwing it away to prevent replacement cost as opposed to the environmental concern. The cost is really the driving factor to make health choices and positive environmental choices.
